Unexpected Situations

Sometimes, the unexpected happens. Here’s how we will deal with the following scenarios.

Out of Ratio

There are two unusual situations where we could find ourselves out of ratio (not enough caregivers for the number and ages of children present):

  • If the arrival of another child would cause us to be out of ratio, then any newly arriving parents will be asked to stay with their children until enough caregivers have arrived to satisfy the ratio rules.

  • If a caregiver has to leave unexpectedly (illness, family emergency, etc.) and their absence would put us out of ratio, then we will attempt to correct the situation by reassigning other caregivers or calling in another person. If we can’t correct the situation within 60 minutes, then we will begin calling parents and asking them to pick up their children.
